2014 FIDE Development Commission Meeting to be hosted in Botswana (26-27 April 2014) BCF is honored to announce that The World Chess Federation (FIDE) has chosen Botswana as the host of the 2014 FIDE Development Commission Meeting which starts today (26 April 2014 at 8am) at Indaba Lodge near Riverwalk-Gaborone. The Development Commission arrived yesterday and leaves on Monday morning. The FIDE Development commission has representatives from different continents, including Africa and is chaired by Mr Allan Herbet, with its Secretary being Mr Rupert William Jones It is for the first time that FIDE Development Commission will be hosting such a high profile meeting in Botswana. Resolutions made at the meeting will be named after Gaborone. We hope that the resolutions will benefit all the developing countries. The commission will also use the weekend to guide and share with BCF and all interested stakeholders especially Clubs on how to have strong and sustainable development structures (e.g. producing/increasing rated/ titled players, hosting of rated tournaments, players exposure, establishment of youth clubs etc.) We encourage members to use this opportunity to their utmost advantage.
