2014 POC ESC Atlantic Series Championship Race Plattekill Bike - TopicsExpress

2014 POC ESC Atlantic Series Championship Race Plattekill Bike Park - Roxbury, NY Started off like a normal weekend race would. Leave NC, drive for many hours, wait in traffic, get to room late, up early, setup pit, course walk and time for practice. Yep, this time the weather at Platty was looking great and it didn’t disappoint. The skies were blue and the trees had all the fall colors. The air was clean and cool, what a day for practice. This was the final race for both the Atlantic and New England series of the POC Eastern Sates Cup. I came into the race with the series lead but my great friend Adam Robbins was close in 2nd position. With it being double points anything could happen in the series standings. I have to say the course was awesome. It was typical Platty up top and super fast one line at the bottom. The course would continue to get blown out in sections as more runs took its toll on the mountain. Speed and corners were going to be name of the game to win this weekend. I’m not sure how many practice runs I put down but I know it more than 8, I just wanted to ride this course. Sunday would be another blue skies, colorful day of riding. At the top of the mountain you could see for miles, no houses, just reds, yellows, oranges and browns. It’s beautiful riding up the lift. I thought it was funny that no one thought the lifts would start at 8am but they did. I was one of the first ones on the lift and the mountain too myself. I did 3 practice runs and steeled in too my normal routine of getting mentally prepared. As my start cam close I felt confident and ready to race. As I started down the course I focused on my breaking points and carrying speed out of all the corners. By the time I got to the last section I could see and hear my dad yelling…telling me I had too push. When I crossed the line I wasn’t sure where I finished. I rode around the corner and didnt look at my time. I waited to hear the announcer and I was lucky enough to come away with the win by a whole .11 seconds over my Canadian buddy Adam. I had the the 10th fastest time of the day but was only 2.8 seconds off the best Pro time. Its been great racing against all the guys this year. I’m thankful for being on the top spot but also for all the friends. These are the race results for the CAT 1 Jr. Expert class When the points were finalized I ended up with the Atlantic Series Championship Title. A big thanks the George Ulmer for putting the series together and supporting me and the sport I love.
