2014 Paul Madigan is a disgrace to the Fijian judicary Madigan used to work with Clive Grossman (who was hired by DPP aka Khaiyum to prosecute the Chaudhry case at a taxpayer cost some say to be $3.6 million) at Parkside Chambers in Hong Kong before coming to Fiji in 2007 (to assist FICAC in the Fatiaki matter) and being appointed a judge post Constitution abrogation in 2009. He unashamedly sat in the Chaudhry case despite such obvious perceived conflict of interest and bias. The DPP proved him to be a liar when Seini Puamau admitted in a sworn affidavit that Madigan used to attend DPP workshops after he had denied it in open court. Despite being proven to be a liar he still unashamedly sat on the Chaudhry matter. In his sentencing of Chaudhry, he used matters not part of the trial and subject to parliamentary privilege. He saw Chaudhrys right to make interlocutory applications as an aggravating factor! No wonder his rulings and summing up so shocking. His overturning the assessors verdict in the Driti case was also a shocker. This man is an affront to justice and his presiding over criminal trials seriously endangers the risk of undermining public confidence in the Judiciary.
