2014 ROBERT KENNEDY - THE BEST OF EDITORS I was introduced to, Bob Kennedy in 1979, by Denie, the Editor of MUSCLE TRAINING ILLUSTRATED (I eventually became Women’s Editor). Denie declared that ,Bob, publisher of MUSCLE MAG INTERNATIONAL was the nicest publisher of all the bodybuilding publications and I immediately found that to be true. He published several other publications and wrote bodybuilding books. In these years before email we used to communicate at least weekly by personal snail mail. He often mentioned our special bond because of the tragedies that befell our sons. After my 2 sons, Gary ~ 1987 and Jerry ~ 1992, died, Bob suffered his own tragedy. I had 5 children and he had two, a son, Braden, and a daughter, Chelsea, with his first wife. In 1998, Kennedy and Braden who was then 11, were in a car crash. Kennedy was thrown from the car but Braden suffered severe brain damage and would require round-the-clock care (until his death in March 2011). He was bedridden in a coma for years but eventually Bob said he was able to watch the TV. Soon after the accident Kennedys wife committed suicide. It was a great shock to learn that Bob died of lung cancer 1938 - 2012. We corresponded up until the last few months and I never knew he was ill. At the Arnold Classic bodybuilding and fitness expo held on March 3, 2012, just weeks before his death, Kennedy was awarded The Arnold Schwarzenegger Lifetime Achievement Award; the award was presented by Schwarzenegger to Kennedys wife, Tosca Reno. Tosca now oversees the publication empire Rob Galert Kennedy Published established - Health, Fitness, Nutrition and Lifestyle Books and Magazines. He is sorely missed today. I treasure this particular letter (I kept all correspondence from all the important people in my past. It will be preserved on Vol II of my AND I DID! Autobiography DVD which will eventually be found in the Sports Museum in Austin, TX) These photos were taken at George Snyder’s 1994 GALAXY. This title topped the Miss Olympia which George actually started, but was immediately absorbed by the IFBB.
