2014 TNM SUPER LEAGUE GROSSED K182 M FROM GATE COLLECTIONS: The 2014 TNM Super League is said to have collected K182 805 750 million in gate revenue from 210 games played across the country, the Super League of Malawi (Sulom) reveals. This is more revenue compared to K133 million collected last season showing a K49,805, 750 increase. Sulom treasurer Tiya Somba-Banda said despite the tremendous strides made in gate collection, the challenge still remains at Kamuzu Stadium where supervisors un-proceeding paid themselves from the gate collections. He said this was in contrast with an agreement made at the start of the season that supervisors would be paid from their stakeholder’s share of the money. “From 38 games, Kamuzu Stadium realised K88 904 848. Teams shared K28 895 340, ground levy was K14 447 670, Sulom got K5 905 360 whereas K9 241 600 went to supervisors,” said Somba-Banda. Of the total figure, teams shared K65 475 105, Sulom and the Football Association of Malawi (FAM) received K13 160 312 each. Sports Council had K6 514 666; total ground levy was K33 125 970; cashiers got K13 560 970; Malawi Police Service (MPS) officers pocketed K11 735 532; stewards got K11 368 979; First aiders received K1 772 120; printing of tickets, K1 171 000; Ballboys got K407 505; Kamuzu Stadium supervisors got K9 241 600 while K1 703 843 went towards sundry expenses.
