2014 Wisconsin Badgers Football week 6 Preview: After last weekends lost to Northwestern the Wisconsin Badgers will look to get back on the winning track against the Illinois Fighting Illini tomorrow at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison,WI. Over the past few weeks the Badgers been having an issue at QB position throughout the season. With an issue at QB now going into the Big 1G schedule Coach Gary Anderson ultimately decided to now make the switch at QB to last years starter in QB Joel Stave in favor of Tanner McEvoy for tomorrows game. Stave will have to make those sure safe throws downfield to his young WRs and avoid throwing key turnovers to the Fighting Illini’s defense that could be a crucial factor late in the game. However the Badgers will still use McEvoy on offense via possible WR reverse or WR option passes that could either create a hole for McEvoy to run or have a WR open down field for a deep pass. It could be a huge day for the Badgers running game as both RBs Melvin Gordon and Corey Clement will have to take advantage of the Fighting Illini’s 119th of 125th in rush defense in the FBS. Gordon will once again be out to prove that he is the best running back in the NCAA FBS this season. Corey Clement will meanwhile look to keep on defining his run skills when getting in the open field and making defenders miss him. With a young receiving squad the Badgers will need big plays from WRs like Alex Erickson, Kenzel Doe and TE Sam Arneson will need to find ways of getting open in order for Stave to throw them the ball. Also look for the Badgers to include the screen game within the passing game to either Gordon or Clement. The Badgers defense will look to fix their mistakes that ultimately cost them the game against the Northwestern Wildcats last weekend. Now it’s onto controlling the Fighting Illini’s decent offensive production that will now be led by Senior WR Reilly O’Toole( in place of Sophmore QB Wes Lunt who will miss 4-6 weeks with a broken leg ). Also the Badgers will have to stop the Fighting Illini’s good running game who have been okay at best throughout the season. If the Badgers defense can force some key turnovers it could give the Badgers an early advantage from then on. With a win the Badgers would improve to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the Big 1G(10 ) Conference West Division. On Wisconsin!!!
