2014 World Cup: Keshi accuses Malawi of distracting Nigeria Nigeria’s Head Coach, Stephen Keshi, has accused Malawi of trying to distract the Super Eagles ahead of their 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier on September 7 in Calabar. The coach was apparently referring to Malawi’s petition to FIFA to move the venue of the match from Calabar to the capital city of Abuja, alleging insecurity and lack of good hotels in the city. “I think it is very clear what they (Malawi) have been trying to do. All they want is to distract us but their plan has failed and we on our part have vowed to do the talking on the pitch, with a convincing victory in Calabar. “Calabar is a very secured place to play football, with nice environment and I was shocked that they could say that it was a security risk. “The only thing we want to do now is to ensure that they are roundly beaten, so that they can learn to work harder and talk less,” the local media, Friday, quoted Keshi as saying. Nigeria leads group F with nine points and needs to avoid a loss against Malawi (second on seven points) to be sure of reaching the final African qualifying round for the World Cup. (PANA/NAN)
