2014 Youth Summit Begins In Yap COLONIA, Yap (OurYAP- July 7, 2014) —Yap State Youth Summit convened today at the SBDC conference room in Colonia Yap. Many of the youth organizations from different municipalities opened the summit today with orientations and discussions on OurYap the umbrella organization representing youth clubs/organizations in the State of Yap. Participating youth clubs that were in attendance were: New Generation Youth Club, Nimgil Youth Organization, Todai Youth Club, Uniting Gagil Youth, Uwapei Organization, YEC Youth Club, , Youth of Benik, Mogmog Youth Club, Maa’ Youth Club, Following the lead of the MC, Tim Ruda (who was also representing the FSM National Youth Council) and introductions from the OurYAP Officers, presentations were made by the different youth clubs. During the afternoon sessions today two presentations were presented by Brain Southwick State Scholarship Coordinator in regards to availability of scholarships and other financial assistance offered through his office and UB Director Teresa Filepin presenting on the Upward Bound Program offered through the College of Micronesia – Yap Campus. After the afternoon presentations, the Summit participants moved to the public park; there, they conducted a cleanup of the area, picking up trash and beautifying the park. After the cleanup, the Summit recesses for the day, and will continue the next day. The next day’s session—on Tuesday—of the Summit will include mostly discussions; the participants will then move to the Yap Sports Complex for a tree-planting project in the afternoon.
