2014 brought me many great life moments. From family to work and everything else it was a good year for me overall. Always things to work on and toward...evolution doesnt end until we quit right? I reconnected with musicians/friends from Portland in 2014 and played several shows there that are now on my list of favorite all time shows (Bad Influence with Factor V, Voodoo Highway at The New Copper Penny Night Club and Restaurant more Portland fun to come this year. Being invited to play at Monsters Of Rock PDX 5 was an honor and a huge amount of fun, thanks to Zev EscriVa, John Rankin, Joel Conrad Bechtolt, Viktor Nova, Lalo Esparza, Brian Harrison, Maury Brown and all who made that happen! Would love to do it again...just ask!, Voodoo Highway released our first full length album, Part Of The Plan and it was received with good reviews and reactions and even made the Bend Bulletins top 10 list of local albums for 2014. Voodoo will be getting back to work next week and plan to play shows in support of Part Of The Plan as well as working on our second album in 2015. I played many shows with other friends, colleagues and professionals all over Oregon & Washington (for instance with Victory Swig at The Hard Rock Cafe Seattle....another show for the good time memory bank and rumor has it Victory Swig and The Commanding Officers may be making another Seattle run soon ;)). I really enjoy the variety my musical life offers me now. I perform with a wide variety of acts and have planted the seeds for a couple more recently. I write songs alone and with others and feel free to do whatever moves me musically....no longer limited by genre or outside expectations. I began teaching guitar again and have added several students over the last few months since joining the faculty at Cascade School of Music. I am even adding some Group Guitar classes and private vocal lessons to my roster for the coming year. 2015 will be a very musically full and diverse year for me.....never dull. I ended the year taking part in a couple Mtn. View High School Jazz Choir trips (A retreat to Suttle Lake and a 3 day run to Portland, Seattle and Olympia) as a parent chaperon.....I know many who knew me in High School (and for 20 years after) will find the idea of me as chaperon hilarious....as do I....who woulda thunk it? Those trips made a huge impression on me as a parent, musician and teacher. Thanks to the Mtn. View family for being so willing to have me along for the fun. My family are amazing and having the wife and children I have is the most cherished gift of every year. I refuse to think this year cant be better for all and I plan to do what I can to help that goal along. I always welcome new open doors and opportunities. Happy New Year to friends and family old and new....whether we talk often, seldom or never you are part of me and there fore part of my life everyday. Heres to lots of good days in 2015!
