2014 was my best year ever. And, it had nothing to do with me. I once measured success through work. If ratings were good, then it was a good year. That’s no longer my measuring stick. While my job is still important, it’s not what defines me or a successful year. What makes 2014 my best year ever? Spiritual growth. I started the year with one goal. Put God #1 in every area of my life. I pursued Him through consumption. It started with reading and listening to daily devotions from Rick Warren and Greg Laurie. I put a “Jesus Calling” calendar in my home with rich reminders of Gods love. I made the commitment to listen to Christian music everywhere. Whether I was writing scripts at the TV station or pulling weeds in the garden, my iphone was pumping praise music through ear buds into my heart. I discovered Itown church in Fishers provided a weekly glimpse of heaven. Attending the weekly Bible Study Fellowship has allowed me to better understand who God is. The constant flow of Christ-centered messages and lyrics this year changed my heart & priorities. I pursued Him through service. I ramped up my volunteer efforts with Grace Church’s frontline ministry called “Lamplighter Ministry. These 48-hour faith deepening experiences at Shepherd Community Center are always the best weekends of the year for me. I pursued Him by giving my testimony. I traveled throughout Indiana and talked about how God rescued me from panic attacks in college and reminded crowds from Tipton to Greenwood that God is faithful, loving, forgiving and answers prayer in His time, not mine. 2014 has been amazing. The best year of my life. I can’t wait to see what He has in store for me next year.
