2014 wasnt great. We have awful neighbours that make our family life really uncomfortable. Weve had to insulate ourselves somewhat to retain our privacy and our integrity, while watching our neighbourhood divide around these people. The agency lost a really nice client out of spite and nastiness, and sadly, I lost a friend. Business is tough, yet the pressures on to give raises, bonuses and more, while overheads soar, margins get slimmer and our beloved clients options are always open. The May election result wasnt great and a lot of people are worried about the short-term future of our beautiful country, compounded by the reintroduction of load-shedding and many embarrassing statements by our idiot president. Our parliament is a circus while corruption, entitlement and indignation are things we can seemingly do nothing about. Im now in my forties and not in great shape, but it still astounds me when people point it out to me. That hurts, yknow? Depression comes and goes, but you really only know how hard it is to cope with once youve experienced it. I hate it, but its part of me. In dealing with it, Id rather be rounder and happy than thin and miserable. But you know what? There was good stuff too. What an amazing trip to the USA we had. Weve won some other exciting business and the prospects for the next 12 months look great. Faye starts a terrific new adventure at a new school. The agency is looking solid, with diversification proving to be a smart strategy. We arent scared of hard work and have a few exciting ideas up our sleeves. Im looking forward to a healthier lifestyle, having set myself reasonable goals - without which Ill never achieve anything! Familys intact and relationships are loving and strong. And no matter what, I believe in this country. Its hard - and as they say - Africa aint for sissies, but we sure are tough, resilient and passionate. Im here. I am DETERMINED to have a prosperous, happy and healthy 2015. Bring it.
