2015 All-Rail Access :: Tulsa and Oklahoma City Depots This - TopicsExpress

2015 All-Rail Access :: Tulsa and Oklahoma City Depots This bears repeating for those new to this community. Initially Eastern Flyer trains will operate only between Sapulpa and eastern Oklahoma City. Luxury shuttle bus service will complete downtown-to-downtown service. The shuttles will even extend as far as Norman and Bartlesville. --All-Rail Soon-- All-Rail access is recognized as necessary for a successful Eastern Flyer implementation. The Oklahoma City and Tulsa City Councils are determined to find a solution early next year. We are hopeful they will be successful. --Property Ownership-- Shuttle buses are required, despite existing rails being in place. The Union Pacific Railroad or BNSF Railway can be used to reach Oklahoma City depots (about 3 miles). The BNSF Railway can be used to reach downtown Tulsa (about 18 miles) Simply put, railroad property ownership issues stand in the way (see the maps). --Agreements to Negotiate-- The Stillwater Central Railroad, host for the forthcoming Eastern Flyer commuter trains, only owns the railroad between Midwest City and a point about a mile west of downtown Sapulpa (about 97.5 miles). Agreements are not in place yet with the BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad to reach the depots. --Please Stay Tuned-- What you will see next year is only the beginning. As we have mentioned before, our advocacy community wants to see all-rail access Kansas City to Dallas/Fort Worth through Joplin, Tulsa and Oklahoma City.
