2015 Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching Program Application Deadline: November 14, 2014 This Program brings approximately 20 international teachers to the U.S. for a semester-long program at a host U.S. university; and sends U.S. teachers abroad for three to six months. The program will take place from mid-August 2015 to mid-December 2015. Teachers pursue individual inquiry projects, take courses for professional development at a host university or institute, and observe and lead master classes and seminars for teachers and students at local primary and secondary schools. The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Branch provides funding and overall program coordination for this Program in consultation with the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board (FFSB) and under a cooperative agreement with the Institute of International Education (IIE). It is fully funded by the Department of State in Washington DC. Teachers will be placed at a U.S. university graduate school of education and will audit up to two classes, pursue an inquiry project, observe/team-teach/lead classes for U.S. teachers and students in local schools, and engage in other teaching related activities. The designs and proposals for the inquiry projects should be included in the application. Examples of projects for international teachers include current methodologies for teaching English as a Second Language, math, science, music or visual and performing arts; working with special needs students; promoting civic engagement or service learning; environmental education; school management or leadership; or development of a curriculum component on other topics that meet a critical need in the candidates home country. The U.S. host university will be responsible for designing a specialized orientation and seminars for the teachers and will ensure that each group has access to a variety of professional development activities. A host university faculty advisor will be assigned to each teacher; that advisor will guide the participant in the refinement and implementation of her/his project Online Appplication Form: The interested application should complete a web-based online application on the following link:fulbrightteacherexchange.org. All applicants should include a completed application form, including the project proposal; Leave Authorization form, Immediate Supervisor Reference form; two recommendation forms; an English language proficiency report for non-native English speakers; Each nominee must also complete the FFSB Form; answers must be typewritten and should provide a synopsis of the applicants professional and personal goals that adhere to the required text length limits.
