2015 Governorship: A look at 5 states Now that most gubernatorial candidates are known, i shall commence discussions on them. At times we focus more at the center while the greatest thievery takes place at the state level. Today I am starting with 5 states, namely: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Imo, Lagos and Rivers states. 1.Abia: Apart from Imo and to an extent Anambra, other states in the south east are politically docile and scared of daring to make a change. With the victory of Dr. Ikezie Ikpeazu as PDPs candidate, barring any intervention by God he will be sworn in as Governor of Abia State on May 29th,2015. 2. Akwa Ibom: Udom Emmanuel will win the state hands down irrespective of what APCs Umana will do. This is a solid PDP state and very politically linear. 3.Imo: With the election of Emeka Ihedioha as flag bearer of PDP, the party is doomed and destined for another 4 years in opposition. Beyond the 12 wasted years of the Udenwa/Ohakim misrule, the candidacy of Ihedioha cannot win more than 7out of the 27 LGAs in the state. These are:Ahiazu, Aboh, Ezinihite, Oguta, Ohaji/Egbema, Ehime Mbano and probably Isiala Mbano. Rochas will be reelected. 4. Lagos: Jimi Agbaje is one overrated contestant. He won a dubious primary election and cannot be relied upon by Lagosians to engender change. The critical factor however is that you do not fix what is not broken. The stability of Lagos cannot be gambled on a change mantra. Beyond Agbaje, the structure of winning election in Lagos is not in the hands of PDP elements. Akinwunmi Ambode will prevail to continue with the good job Fashola has done. 5. Rivers: The Wike machine is well oiled and ready to mow down any obstacle facing it. He will put up a good fight but that will not be enough. The Ikwerre factor is very real. That will do him in. Dakuku Peterside will win and will be sworn in next year.
