2015: Kwankwaso’s Campaign Posters Flood Port Harcourt — Sep 16, 2014 | Presidential campaign posters of the Kano State governor, Alhaji Rab’iu Musa Kwakwanso have flooded Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Checks by LEADERSHIP revealed that the posters, which have the presidential hopeful dressed in attire of the three dominant tribes in Nigeria, Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo, were seen in strategic positions in the Port Harcourt metropolis. Kwankwaso, who is one of the progressive governors that defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the heat of the crisis that rocked the party last year to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is the first stalwart of the party to publicly declare his intention to occupy Aso Rock in 2015. Speaking when the Kwankwaso Presidential Campaign Team visited the APC state officials at the state secretariat in Port Harcourt, yesterday, chairman of the team, Dr Danjuma Mohammed stated that the Kano State governor has done a lot in transforming Kano State in terms of infrastructure, education, and other laudable projects and has ability to liberate the country if given the opportunity in 2015. Mohammed further stated that APC has credible, enviable, strong and fearless leaders across the country. He said they were in the state to seek their support and inform them that they were on a nation-wide consultation for Kwankwaso’s presidency. “Our mission is to tell you that we strongly feel and believe that this country is going in the wrong direction. We need change and this change is not going to come easy, this change is not going to come on a platter of gold. We have to put heads together. to ensure that we save this country from total collapse”, he said. Also speaking, the Special Adviser to Kwankwaso on Inter-Community Relations, Mr. Christopher Chidi Anyaso, who is from Omuma local government area in Rivers State, described Kwankwaso as a detribalised person who have done a lot in the past three years in the area of women and youths empowerment, infrastructure and education in Kano State. Anyaso, who reasoned that Kwankwaso and the state Governor, Rt. Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi share similarities in leadership style, pleaded for support from the state APC and Rivers people, in general. Responding, the state Deputy Chairman of APC, Prince Peter Odike stated that Kwankwaso has a good footing in his ambition considering the voting power of Kano state and his achievements as governor in the past three years. He, however, promised to convey the message of the campaign team to the state party leadership and communicate back to them appropriately.
