2015: SOUTH-SOUTH GROUP DRUMS UP SUPPORT FOR GOODLUCK A former deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency Werenipre Seigbarugu has urged the people of South- South Geo- political zone to rally round the President and Commander –in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and support him, especially at this trying moment of our nation’s history. Seigbarugu made this declaration at the inauguration of the local government executives of the South-South Coalition for Goodluck 2015, Bayelsa State Chapter. Seigbarugu who was special guest of honour at the inauguration ceremony, which took place at Ididie hotel, Yenagoa, urged Nigerians and specifically the people of the south-south, to continue their support for the transformation agenda of the president. He commended the president’s resolve to continue to promote the unity and indivisibility of Nigeria, stressing the need for Nigerians to see the gain in development and peace. Seigbarugu called for commitment and dedication to the ideals of the transformation agenda, while urging Mr. President to continue the good work he is doing for the country. While giving his key note address, Hon. Chief T.K.O.Okorotie,OFR; National President of the coalition, urged President Goodluck to declare his intention to run for the office of the president in 2015. Thomson Okorotie said, the president, on account of his good works, deserves a second term in office. According to Okorotie, the changing face of development in all aspect of our national life, under the administration of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, is commendable. Okorotie enumerated some of the good works of the President in the areas of agriculture, aviation, infrastructure, transportation, as well as good economic policies that is creating the enabling environment for businesses in Nigeria to thrive and urged the president to do more. He further hailed INEC for the good job they did in conducting a credible election in Ekiti State and re-emphasized the need for the people of the south-south to collected their permanent voters card, as well as take advantage of the on-going registration of voters for those who had not registered before. Also speaking at the event, chairman of the occasion, Chief Engr. A.S.R. Dienagha, applauded the coalition for the initiative to mobilize support for the President. Dienagha said there is the urgent need for the people of the south-south to network with other regions to synergize and chart a way forward for the country. “In spite of the fact that we know that Mr. President has done well in all the regions of Nigeria, there is still the need for us to re-echo his achievements in order to make a case for the president’s re-election”, he said. Dienagha further, urged those that were inaugurated to be very serious and committed in the discharge of their duties. Giving the charge to the newly inaugurated local government executives, the Bayelsa state chairman of the coalition, Elder Dr. Achimota Dickson, intimated them of the modus- operandi of the coalition. Emphasizing that the coalition is a selfless advocacy group for the re-election of the President, Dickson encouraged the new executives to work selflessly to achieve its objectives, which is to primarily to mobilize support for the president within their domain. Furthermore, Dickson said membership into the organization is free and on no account should anybody collect money for registering members. Those inaugurated are Mr. Ebiyekon Clement,Ekeremor L.G.A; Chief Asiapere Odum, Kolokuma/Opkuma L.G.A.; Mr. Kelvin T.N. Jonah, Nembe L.G.A.; Chaplin Dr. D.D. Watchman, Ogbia L.G.A.; Mr. Dabrilagha Fred, Sagbama, L.G.A.; Hon. Forcados, Southern Ijaw L.G.A. and Rev. Bedford Akakoli, Yenagoa. Speakers at the ceremony extolled the leadership quality of the president and ask for the support of other regions to support the re-election of President Goodluck. Some of those who spoke are HRM Hon. Agustus Eliot Osomu, the Obenama of Imiringin, Elderstates man Chief Douglas Naigba and Chief C.O. Edosa from Edo state. Others were their secretaries and other members of the various executives. Some dignitaries that attended the ceremony are HRM King Erepamo J. Olotu, Prof. Mrs. Ayibaemi Spiff, Chief Arimebogha, Lady Mrs. Love Amasemogha amongst others.
