2015: THE YEAR OF POLICE FORCE CHANGE If 2014 was the year of unbridled police brutality and injustice (which is hard to argue it wasnt) 2015 will have to be the year our police departments and leadership across the country take a deep breath and look at the heightened scrutiny theyre under not from the unhealthy defensive place many of them are currently holding ground, but a place of self examination, reflection and renewal. And Im not just talking about the bad apples, like this police officer, who need to be weeded out of the ranks of our police departments, but the good cops, who are great public servants and leaders in their communities. It will be they, not the bad apples who will lead the way toward rebuilding the oppressive and dangerous image our men and women in blue earned in 2014. It will be they who will need to lead the anthem that our police departments are proactively changing their programs and policies to ensure every citizen is treated with dignity and respect -- and fairness. Let the year of renewal begin.
