2015: We’ll Prove To Presidency That APC Is Not A ‘Billboard Party’ – Amaechi Governor of Rivers State r and Chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, said on Thursday that the Peoples Democratic Party had no credible candidate, but corrupt politicians. Amaechi, who spoke during an inspection tour of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex in preparation for the October 25th mega rally of All Progressives Congress, APC, in Port Harcourt, added that the state PDP had nothing to offer the people in the 2015 general election. The NGF chairman also condemned the moves to field an Ikwerre candidate as his successor after his eight years in office, describing those behind the move as prophets of doom. He said, “Rivers people need to vote out PDP and vote in APC in 2015. The quality of candidates PDP is offering are people who are prepared to cart away state funds. “There are people whose interests you must protect. Ikwerre people were not born into the state just to become governors at the expense of other Rivers people. “If we cried against injustice when the Bayelsa people were with us, then Ikwerre people should not lead the onslaught to say that Ikwerre must always get governorship because they have the number to achieve that”. On the forthcoming APC mega rally, Amaechi said the gathering, which was targeting 69,000 supporters of the party in the state, was designed to showcase the popularity of the party in Rivers and dispel the notion that the ruling party in the state only existed on billboards as recently claimed by President Goodluck Jonathan and PDP. “PDP said they held a town hall meeting at the Elekahia Stadium of 16,000 capacity. And to hold our own here at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex, we are expecting over 69,000 APC faithful for the mega rally. “We are using the rally to show our popularity to the world including the President that we are not a billboard party. You will witness the turnout. “Although the Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru is in charge of the preparation for the event, I came to see the speed of work and I think it is in progress and we expect the pace of work to increase in order to complete the main bowl of the stadium before the mega rally”, Amaechi stated.
