2015: You cant win Zamfara - Abdulaziz Yari Tells Jonathan: ___________ Apparently reacting to President Goodluck Jonathan’s claim that the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) would recapture Zamfara State in 2015 elections, Governor Abdulaziz Yari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said the claim made by the president was just a fluke, as PDP could not win the state. The president had, in a recent PDP rally in Kaduna, said PDP would reclaim Zamfara, Kano and Sokoto, which were all PDP states in 2011. However, in a swift reaction to the president’s declaration, Governor Yari told newsmen in Gusau that the PDP had failed to provide the basic amenities needed to transform the country. According to him, “after 15 years of democracy, things like water, electricity, housing, job creation, among others, have remained elusive to the common people. “Yet, everyday, hundreds of people are unjustly killed in the name of terrorism, armed banditry and cattle rustling. The insecurity situation is assuming a very dangerous dimension.” He added that the turnout of thousands of the youth at the botched the Nigeria Immigration Service exercise also clearly indicated that the country was on the verge of social explosion. “Anyone interested in our politics will agree with me that we have always remained in the opposition. Our position has not change. And in 2015, it will not change neither,” he said. He insisted that no amount of propaganda and blackmail would give the PDP an edge over APC, saying, “simply put it on record, PDP will not win the state. It will remain in our hands.”
