December 9, 2014 by uad 0 Comments0 Comments The National Association of the Deaf (NAD) is pleased to announce that the NAD Youth Leadership Camp (YLC) will be from June 23 through July 20, 2015 at Camp Taloali, which features 111 acres of forested land located in the foothills of Oregon’s Cascade Mountains. This is a once in a lifetime experience not to be missed, with all fun activities in the midst of trees and in sight of the mountains. Don’t wait! Camper and staff applications are now online. It is: nad.org/ylccamper The NAD YLC offers intensive leadership development opportunities for young deaf and hard of hearing student leaders, grade 10-11, from diverse educational programs. With both stimulating fun activities and serious academic studies, the YLC program focuses on enhancing the student leaders’ skills in advocacy, empowerment, deaf culture and heritage, language, current national and international issues, group dynamics, outdoor activities, and much more. Proven through four decades, the YLC program is specially designed to advance leadership skills through an intensive curriculum, leadership styles training, and social interaction. The YLC experience is essentially “learning through active involvement.” The program also aims to assist young students in developing their scholarship, collaborative, and citizenship (SLC) abilities and becoming self-starters in their respective schools and communities. The NAD is dedicated to providing essential leadership development strategies and tools for deaf and hard of hearing youth through this exciting summer program.
