2015 is Vincent van Gogh Year. Van Gogh (1853-1890) was a renowned Dutch painter who died at the early age of 37. Various European towns in the Netherlands, Belgium, France and England; places of importance to the life and work of Van Gogh, will organise unique exhibitions and cultural events to commemorate the 125th anniversary of the artist’s death. These events will be linked by the shared theme; ‘125 Years of Inspiration’. From 25 September 2015 until 17 January 2016 the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam will display the exhibition ‘Munch: van Gogh’; a collection of works by Van Gogh and Munch (1863-1944) together. The exhibition is on display earlier, at the Munch Museum in Oslo, from 7 May 2015 until 6 September 2015.
