2015 is about to begin and I have a New Years Resolution that I hope youll share.I got the idea from a friend, Linda Jensen, who is making a difference. We all have seen issues with birds in pet stores and read about bad situations concerning lack of their care etc. Many Ive seen comment wont go into a Petco or PetSmart. Fortunately my area PetSmart is very good to their birds and today Im going to checkout our local Petco. The last time I was in there they only had parakeets but today Im going to check out how they are being cared for. Linda reported her local Petco to their corporate office and due to her efforts got some things changed and improved for the birds she saw. So my New Years Resolution is to do the same.If I find bad conditions today I will,politely,ask the manager about what I see. I will also call corporate if need be. Why not make it your resolution too? We all love our fids and we cant rescue all of the ones who arent so lucky to have forever homes. We are a strong group. Pick a store in your area,visit it often,check on how the birds you see are doing and try to help in some way make their lives better until they finally get a home. Think of the impact we could make? There are already advocates out there for dogs and cats,wild animals etc. We see ads on TV all the time but not for birds. Bashing or boycotting those big stores wont change anything but doing this might start a change. Like Linda said.....one bird at a time. Thanks for your attention and comments are welcomed.
