2015 is starting out rough. Our 12 year old lab has had an increasingly hard time getting up once he is down- often using the wall behind him to push off of so he can stand. This morning he just was too tired to even try getting up. We brought water and food to him, but he wasnt interested in the food. I hoisted him up and got him outside to do his business- once he is up he is ok as long as his back legs dont give out. Back inside he laid in one spot for the day looking sad and tired. I brushed him for a long time with our brush mitt- his fav. I hoisted him up again for dinner and night business. Tomorrow we will go see his vet, but sadly Im starting to wonder if it is time. Ive never had to make this decision before for a pet and I am told you will know, but I would love some guidance and support from others that have seen their seniors through this journey. Im hoping this was just a bad day and he has many more good days, but I also dont want him sad and in pain.
