2015, the year I have been looking forward to since last June. Oh there were plenty of good things left to anticipate in 14, but most of it was overshadowed by Kyles imminent departure to Rolla, and the declining health of my cousin. Today the promise of 2015 inches closer to reality. Its progression does not speed up just because we put up a new calendar, but I am served a reminder that time is running off the clock and there are no timeouts. My 6/14 resolution? A State Track Championship for the girls 4x800 team, a goal that morphed into a plan to win a State team title. Over these months my understanding of coaching and training has evolved and so once again my goal has changed. Today my 2015 resolution is to motivate all of my kids to Championship level EFFORT in every endeavor of life. The times, scores and medals will take care of themselves IF we give our best effort at every opportunity. Off season workouts have never been this well attended before, and the results show up almost every time we gather. Yesterday I watched a young lady run the best road workout of her life in 20 degree temps. My mind aches for a stop watch and warmer temps, but I suspect that she has learned to love the process, and finds sufficient reward in the effort and endurance she demonstrated. The times and scores will be there for her soon enough, and then her coach will struggle with the inevitability of graduation... My coaching effort has never been higher, but the fire burns to do more and find new, better ways to motivate. 2015 - THE YEAR OF EXCELLENCE IN EFFORT
