202K Youth Leaders Today and Leaders into the Future As the end - TopicsExpress

202K Youth Leaders Today and Leaders into the Future As the end of third term holidays started drawing to an end, six students were preparing for the district finals of the 202 K Young Ambassador competition. They travelled from as far north as Keri Keri and as far south as Waiuku to band together, and yet compete against each other, in an intensive day of stretching each of the students, in the battle to see who would win the young youth leader competition. The judges: Hine Joyce Tahere, Shaun Greaves, and Willie Iosia who all are wonderful leaders in the youth field, had their work cut out for them as they interviewed, interacted with, and listened to the contestants public presentations. This was all too evident in the one hour plus it took for them to decide who should win this title, so fierce was the competition and so amazing the contestants. The audience was wonderful in size and support of these students, as families, teachers and Lions all celebrated the wonderful talent and commitment we have in 202K youth. Richard had an amazing display on the projector, as all of the audience got to learn a little about each student, and then got to listen to their public address. Well done to the contestants: Zone 1 : Samantha Scahill Zone 2 : Luke Baker Zone 4 : Ruahei Demant Zone 6 : Kelly Tomlinson Zone 7 : Michelle Huang Zone 8 : Aimee Moss 1st Kelly Tomlinson $2000.00 2nd Ruahei Demant $700 3rd Samantha Scahill $300 All the students left with a Cadbury Gift Bag, a First Aid Kit and the offer of a St John First Aid course, courtesy of St John Youth. A big thanks also to 202K Lions clubs, Green Bay New World and Blackwatch Homestead for their contribution towards this event. Not all the students can win this competition but they sure were all winners in their own way. I know that we have a good future ahead of us, when I see such wonderful youth as these contestants were.
