207 Bestselling Car In Europe The Peugeot 207 is the successor to the 206; it replaced the supermini in 2006 and is available as a 3 or 5 door hatchback, an estate and a coupe-convertible. According to JATO Dynamics the 207 was the bestselling car in 2007. The 207 is built in the UK at Peugeots Coventry car plant. The Peugeot 207 CC (Coupe-Convertible) was the successor to the 206cc, which was a very successful model for Peugeot, in fact it was the UKs best selling convertible. To build on the success of the 206 CC Peugeot had to make the 207 CC better. Like its predecessor the 207 CC comes with a metal folding roof, in the new model the roof is completely automatic. There is no need to release any catches - and raises or lowers in 25 seconds, something you can do at speeds of up to 6mph. The Peugeot 207 CC in Hampshire is available with three 1.6 litre engines, one of which is a diesel. The 110bhp diesel engine is gutsy, has plenty of torque and is surprisingly quiet. The 153bhp petrol model is the most powerful and it feels it, the lesser powered 1.6 litre petrol does seem a little under powered and take off is not great. Even though the CC is heavily based on the hatchback, chassis strengthening means the CC is 200kg heavier, which means its not as nippy around town as the hatchback model. With the metal folding roof up the little supermini performs brilliantly, turning sharply and responding well to steering adjustments. With the roof down the ride does become nosier, as expected there is also some scuttle shake. The new 207 CC looks stunning, it has smartened up from the 206 CC days but retains its exciting driving ability, and clever features such as the fully automatic roof make the 207 CC more desirable than other competitors.
