20TH JANUARY, 2015[TUESDAY] LESSON EIGHTY-NINE[89] : MISSIONARY MOTIVES II COR 5:14,For the love of Christ constraineth us.. All believers ought to be constrained by the love of Christ to serve Him from conversion to death or rapture. Unfortunately many Christians have vague ideas as to why they should serve Him. In the Old Testament, men were compelled by law and in the New Testament we are compelled by love. Which is the greater power? I believe Love is. I. THE EMPTY MANSIONS IN HEAVEN, II Cor 5:1-4 Death is an unpopular topic, yet one that we must constantly face. In verse 1 Paul speaks about the building of God in Heaven. See also John 14:2. I believe that God gave me a title deed on conversion in 1979. Luke 14:23,Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that My house may be filled. I believe that the 2nd Coming is delayed waiting for the mansions to be filled.and heavenly inheritance claimed. How many of your friends, the aged, the young, the illiterate, and the simple-minded do not have the title deed? As a Christian I am constrained to persuade men to be definite about the possession of that home NOW. Can I be selfish and keep this without sharing it? No, I must tell others in compliance with the great commission Matt 28 II. THE SIMPLICITY OF FAITH, II Cor 5:7 Verse 7,For we walk by faith.. The condition is just believe, which everybody can. III. THE DESIRE TO PLEASE THE SAVIOUR, II Cor 5:9 Verse 9, Wherefore we labour that whether present or absent, we may be accepted of Him. We must please our new Master Jesus Christ. Let us therefore do our best to serve Him faithfully, not mere men pleasers but working with an eye single to His honour and glory. IV. COMING JUDGEMENT, II Cor 5:10-11 This was discussed in Lesson 84. Believers are not judged on our acceptance of Jesus Christ, but on the super structure that we build on the foundation of Christ. I Cor 3:11 All our works will be judged by fire, and those faithful ones will be rewarded with many crowns and stars. The unfaithful will be doomed 2 Cor 5:11 The fact that someday I will be judged make me walk circumspectly and serve diligently. V. CHRIST DIED FOR ALL, II Cor 5:14b John 3:16 All need a Saviour Acts 4:12 VI. THE MORAL OBLIGATION TO LIVE WITH OTHERS, II Cor 5:15 We are saved to serve, others and in doing so, is infact serving Christ. VII. WE ARE AMBASSADORS WITH THE WORD OF RECONCILIATION, II Cor 5:18-20 The two parties are God and sinners To us believers, we have to share that reconciliation won at Calvary to the hiding sinners, even though we may be a retiree, we are yet to be ambassadors on active duty.
