20th Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival - 16 to 21 September, 2014. Encounters - Call For Submissions Encounters announced its call for entries in late September for this years festival. Were only 6 months away from our 20th anniversary. The festival started back in the 20th century: The days of analogue media when we launched in 1995, under the name Brief Encounters. Brief Encounters had been originally envisioned as a one-off event to mark the centenary of cinema. The event was so popular that it became an annual fixture and by 2001, Animated Encounters was created to celebrate and showcase animations from all around the globe. By 2006 the two separate events united under one umbrella - The Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival. We opened our call for entries in late January, asking filmmakers from across the globe to submit their short films. Encounters accepts any genre from live action drama, documentary, animation, music videos and experimental content. The films must be under 30 minutes and the festival does NOT offer a premier policy. Encounters is one of the leading short film festivals and gives filmmakers an opportunity to have their films shown on an international platform. The festival is also a gateway into some of the most prestigious award ceremonies such as BAFTA, the Academy Awards, European Film Festival and Cartoon Dor. The key dates for submission:- March 28th, 2014 - Submission deadline for films completed in 2013. May 16th, 2014 - Submission deadline for films completed in 2014.
