21/9/1997, LOST CHEQUE. Around that time when the above letter arrived from FAI threatening legal action I lost a payment cheque near TRINITY LANE WOOLLOONGABBA, when I realized what happened, I went up and down looking for it but there was no trace of it. I rang the courts concerning that and they were going to send me a replacement cheque but the cheque mysteriously turned up back in my P.O, Box the next morning, the person who found it tried to change it for cash after tearing the envelope open, when he failed to do that, he mailed it back to me torn open. I notified the courts by phone of its return, they told me that the new cheque wasn’t issued yet and they didn’t have time to cancel the lost cheque, they did put a note on the computer about it which wasn’t carried through so they cancelled it. I told them to make direct credits to my Metway Banking account and I signed a direct credit form for the courts, after about seven weeks receiving no money that may have come to about $85.00. When I inquired with the courts they told me that they had paid in three cheques on my behalf already, however, Metway Bank denied any knowledge of payments from the courts to my Bank account, when the head office was phoned from George Street Brisbane branch, the accounts department at first denied all knowledge about them, I insisted it to be so. The manager phoned the court registry and got the cheque dates, he phoned the head office at Spring Hill again but they denied to have received them again, after a bit of discussion they found the whole three cheques unopened, tucked away in a draw. Who put them in the draw? Why were they not deposited into my Cashcard account? Is it because someone there wanted to steal them? perhaps we may never know the answer to these and other questions. I got my money paid to me. I couldn’t trust the Metway Bank’s staff so I contacted the courts, told them of my success and advised them to send them in future to my P.O, BOX.To affect that I had to come to the court registry and on a piece of paper I wrote, I MIRON LOVRIC DO AUTHORIZE THE COURT TO SEND ALL MY RESTITUTION CHEQUES TO P.O, BOX WEST END 4101 AND SIGNED IT. No more cheques ever went astray again. A Metway Bank manager did get jail in 1995 for stealing money from the customer’s banking accounts, he said IT’S SO EASY.
