21 years ago today, my parents rented a passenger van...because we want to do everything together as a family...and took me to the convent. I had carefully packed the list of things allowed to take with me, but as I recall I was too emotional to eat lunch at the restaurant when we stopped on the way. As we pulled into the driveway of our province house, one of my brothers expressed surprise that I was never coming home --- he thought it was only a visit. We had a lighter moment with that, but I still remember my mothers tears. Now that my parents are in heaven, no doubt as they were truly saints, I know heartache is a thing of the past for them. Another beautiful memory from that day: Msgr. Francis Ackerson arrived unexpectedly at the Province just as I got there, and asked for exposition of the Most Blessed Sacrament, so it seems the Lord Jesus even came out of His holy tabernacle to greet me. Thank you, dear Lord, for the gift of my holy vocation. I pray that I will be faithful to this call and become a saint by it.
