I admire people who play easily. One of my brothers told me about a vacation that he, his wife, and daughter took not too long ago. They played golf and miniature golf, swam in the pool, went bowling, ate in wonderful restaurants, took tours of the local sites, and took long naps. I was astonished with how much they did in a short time and how the focus of their vacation was play. My needs for hard work and accomplishment are very well met, but I often forget to play. How about you? Is your need for play met in this moment? If not, consider a few things you can do to meet it today. For instance, how about having lunch with a friend whom you laugh with easily? Or how about going to a funny movie? Forget the drama just this once. You could also choose roller skating, ice skating, horseback riding, bowling, or golf. The activity doesn’t matter as much as the joy you feel when you meet your need for play. As a friend of mine says, “Play on!” Be aware of whether your need for play is met today.
