220 army recruits set for Igam and Goldie Julianna Waeda Jan 22, 2015-PNG Loop One hundred and eighty (180) new recruits and 40 officer cadets were processed today at the Murray Barracks headquarters to go into their respective training programs. The 180 recruits will be delivered to Goldie Training Depot to undergo basic training while the 40 Officer Cadets will travel to the Defence Academy in Igam Barracks, Lae for their Officer Cadet (OC) Training. The PNGDF Chief of Staff Colonel Mark Goina says the recruits will have their admin work sorted out ahead of their transfers. Colonel Goina explains that the general enlistees to Goldie have all passed their psych test and are now in the process of finalising their administrative or paper work arrangements. However he says for the officer cadets they have done their final panel screening and downsized to 40 from the original 50 candidates. Goina admits that while this is 10 short of the quota set at 50, the training will go ahead as planned. He says that this first lot of recruits set that pace for the PNGDF and its training schedule for the rest of the 2015 year. - See more at: pngloop/2015/01/22/220-army-recruits-set-igam-goldie/#sthash.5WTqlTc7.dpuf
