229. EQUILIBRIUM. When I was younger I always tested my limits against all types of physical activity. Especially the wild horses we tamed in Mozambique, during my stay in Vila Pery in the early 1970’s, gave me a strong sense of satisfaction. Nowadays it is much more comfy to watch the grandchildren playing in the park, where the swings they enjoy so much, bring the most of the philosopher in me to the front. You see, on a swing, for every forward move there is a backward move coming. And while the momentum is mostly generated with the forward move, it must be balanced by an equal backward one. But with any one of the two, your feet are not firmly on the ground, neither are you in control. Also the equilibrium is only reached after the unfruitful (read vain/empty) forward and backward moves are played out. Woe to me if I do not apply this playground philosophy to our behaviour in the Spiritual realm. So many of us were, in our wild horse riding days, traditionally moved “forward” by momentum of external forces like emotion and religion. We slowed down at the peak of the (our) move (you know, that moment of frozen realization when you know that you were wrong all the way), and as the soulish momentum played out, we started a backward move towards balance. But instead of stopping at the place where we could stand on the solid ground of the Word, we’ve moved on towards the other side and into the extreme of our new “faith”! No wonder Paul, in his letter to the Galatians, rebuke them with these hard words: “ You foolish Galatians! Who put a spell on you? Before your very eyes you had a clear description of the death of Jesus Christ on the cross! Tell me this one thing: did you receive Gods Spirit by doing what the Law requires or by hearing the gospel and believing it? How can you be so foolish! You began by Gods Spirit; do you now want to finish by your own power? Did all your experience mean nothing at all? Surely it meant something! Does God give you the Spirit and work miracles among you because you do what the Law requires or because you hear the gospel and believe it?” (Gal.3:1-5 G.N.B.) Where our original “forward” move was caused by people misleading us and emotionally raping us, let’s not give people on the “other” side the opportunity to do the same to us. Let’s rather pray for wisdom from our Heavenly Father Yahweh, who promised never to leave us or forsake us. Emotions and opinions are the biggest devil-given-problems we may encounter in our search of Truth. (the easiest way to swing away from our solid inheritance again with unknown negative momentum) Against this the Holy Spirit was promised to be to us our Parakletos, towards restoring us into the Wisdom, Freedom and Maturity of Relationship with Yahshua the Messiah (Jesus the Christ)! hY/jjhl
