23 July 2014 Press statement by MCA Deputy Secretary General Datuk Wee Jeck Seng DAP CEC should have courage to take similar stand as DAP Sarawak over PAS’ hudud agenda I urge the DAP Central Executive Committee (CEC) to state their stand on PAS’ intentions to implement hudud law, and to include whether or not they intend to follow the threat issued by DAP Sarawak. Since DAP Sarawak has announced that they will leave the Pakatan coalition should PAS Sarawak refuse to abandon their agenda on the implementation of hudud law, it is only right for the CEC to find the courage to issue a similar stand as well. It should not only be left to DAP Sarawak alone to tell PAS that it should not implement hudud law in Kelantan, but the party leadership at national level too. With regards to DAP Mengkibol state assemblyman Tan Hong Bin who had accused me of trying to blame DAP for allowing PAS to implement hudud law, I urge him to find the courage to be as brave as DAP Sarawak in issuing a clear stand against PAS. This is because PAS has always made it clear that the implementation of hudud law has always been a part of their agenda, and that DAP has always tried to whitewash PAS despite knowing this fact in order to mislead the voters. MCA on the other hand has always been opposed towards having hudud law implemented in our nation. On this subject, we have made our stand clear and that we will fight to uphold the Federal Constitution which maintains that Malaysia as a secular country, and that despite the many different religions and cultures, we can all still live in peace and harmony.
