23 teachers in Madang posing with their Certificates for their group photo on Friday 26th September, 2014 after successfully completing a week-long Marine Environment Education Training at the St. Theresas Sisters Conference Center, Alexishafen. The workshop was facilitated by Mrs Adolphina Luvongit from Mahonia Na Dari, a local NGO based in West New Britain in partnership with Mas Kagin Tapani. According to Mrs Luvongit, this is the largest number of participants she has taught. It demonstrates the need for such training for teachers in Madang. In fact we had to turn down a few teachers who arrived a day late. Our evaluation exercise with these teachers indicate that the training must be brought to each district in the coastal regions of Madang Province. In order to do that, we needed a long-term funding.
