#2377 Shetty male 26 Hi I disagree with Prajwal Alvas comment on confession #2367 where he said that when we are born, we are born as humans, not Bunts and that these castes are man-made. Let me point out to Mr. Alva the difference between varna (colour/caste) and jati (Birth/ethnicity). I think this was already discussed before as well. Bunt is a jati (ethnic group), not a caste Our caste/occupation is traditionally warriors, nobility and agriculture. Actually despite this , some Brahmins used to refer to us as Shudra , because of our Mlecchha (Saka/Scythian/foreigner) Non-Aryan origin. So technically we dont have a proper caste and are referred to by our Jati (Bunt). The same applies to Kodavas, Nairs, etc. who are ethnically similar to us. They are all referred to by their jati/ethnic group not caste/occupation as in the Vedic Caste System , there is no such thing as Bunt/Nair/Kodava/Billava/Koraga/Pambada,etc. in the actual Vedic caste system In the caste system, there are only 4 main castes (occupations) and below these are other branched out occupations. So coming back to Prajwal Alvas statement, no one is disputing the fact that we are born as humans. However to say that Bunts is man-made is false. Bunt is in our DNA. This is why we have strict rules of endogamy within our ethnic group for ages. Therefore to be Bunt is in our Blood and one can only be born as Bunts. just like one can only be born as Arab. Chinese, Korean, etc, Just like there are African Elephants and Indian Elephants. Both are born as Elephants. No one is disputing this. However these are different species of Elephants and have different features, characteristics, etc., and do not mate with each other. E.g., 1.African elephants come with bigger ears that reach up over the neck whereas the Indian elephants have small ears that do not reach the back. 2.The African elephants are heavier and are larger than the Indian elephants. 3.The African elephants have more wrinkled skin than the Indian ones. 4.The two elephants also differ in the shape of their back, belly, and head. I hope you get my point.
