237p 3/11 (Forecaster Zach) - WINTER STORM UPDATE Good Afternoon! While a good portion of the Northeast basks in mild weather, especially southern portions, the Northern Northeast, such as Western NY to the Adirondacks and Canadian border, all the way through VT, NH, and Maine, is gearing up for a significant winter storm that will impact this region Wednesday morning through Thursday. Currently, WINTER STORM WARNINGS extend from Buffalo to Houlton, ME on the Canadian border. Anywhere under a Warning can see upwards of a Foot of snow, with many mountainous areas of NY and Northern New England possibly picking up upwards of a Foot and a half of snow. This is great news for Ski Resorts in this region. This is a major Winter Storm, so folks from Western NY to Maine/New Brunswick border should be aware of that. Snow will move out of Maine Thursday afternoon. Areas to the south, from the Catskills to Interior MA and SE NH, expect a little in the way of snow, maybe a couple of inches, but mainly rain/wintry mix to start. Once you move into SNE, NYC area, Long Island, Lower Hudson Valley, N NJ, this will be a Rain Storm with breezy conditions. Back-end snow showers are possible late Wednesday into Thursday morning. Black Ice will be a concern Thursday as temps fall into the 10s and 20s Wednesday night, so be mindful of that. Stay tuned for the latest, and as always, comment if you have any questions!
