23rd to 27th September 2013 23rd September 2013 “And David said (to Saul) the Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” And Saul said to David, “Go, and the Lord be with you!” 1 Samuel 17:37 The reason why David had confidence to fight against Goliath is, he had full confidence that God would be with Him. David fought Goliath and killed him in the name of the Living God. When one problem after another keeps attacking us, Satan is defying God in our lives, and the only way to fight him off, is to face the problem in the name of the Living God. When we put our faith in God we can be fully assured that He will never let us down. 24th September 2013 "I, even I, am he who comforts you. Who are you that you fear mortal men, the sons of men, who are but grass, that you forget the Lord your Maker, who stretched out the heavens and laid the foundations of the earth, that you live in constant terror every day because of the wrath of the oppressor, who is bent on destruction? For where is the wrath of the oppressor?” Is 51:12-13 God is asking us not to be afraid of people, and forget Him who comforts us. God does not want us to fear people because they are frail (like grass). When we fear people we forget God and that is why we live in constant fear and anxiety, depression and discouragement. In the vs after vs 13 God goes on to say that now we are bowed down but we will soon be released, we shall not be disgraced nor our ‘bread’ fail! That’s a promise. Let us pray today, not to give into fear. 25th September 2013 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. " Jeremiah 29:11 In every negative situation, God has a plan for us, and if we allow Him to, He will reveal it one day at a time. It is the Lord who keep us strengthened and strong in that situation. Let us not give into discouragement for our Father knows every detail of what is happening to us, rather let us be encouraged that in our situation He is in total control and He will bring us through in peace and harmony. 26th September 2013 “Pursue peace with everyone, and the holiness without which no one will see the Lord. See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble, and through it many become defiled.” Hebrews 12:14-15 Bitterness! Often the result of what someone has done and maybe continues to do to us. But there is nothing hidden from God. He knows what we are going through, He knows how we feel. Yes other people’s behaviour can take away our peace and joy and leave us often feeling unloved and in pain. Today, God’s Word is challenging us “See to it that no one fails to obtain the grace of God; that no root of bitterness springs up and causes trouble” 27th September 2013 “Have no anxiety about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your request be made known to God. And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds I Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6-7 When we have no peace, when our world is falling apart, when we have to make tough decisions and can find no support or encouragement, life gets difficult. Yet, St. Paul says “Have no anxiety about anything…”, Even though life is difficult, Jesus is very close to us and He knows every single thing we are faced with, and every single thing that is disturbing us. He knows how our fears paralyze us, yet He takes His time to send us a healing. Every difficult time, is an invitation to lean more on the Lord and grow in our faith in Jesus Christ. It is the difficult times that help us to become spiritually mature – Have a blessed week end :)
