24-HOUR PUBLIC WEATHER FORECAST Issued at: 5:00 PM 17 January 2015 SYNOPSIS: At 4:00 pm today, Tropical Storm “ Amang” {Mekkhala} was estimated based on all available data at 60 km North Northeast of Borongan City, Eastern Samar (12.1˚n, 125.6˚e), with maximum sustained winds of 100 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 130 kph. It is forecast to move Northwest at 19 kph. Northeast Monsoon affecting Northern Luzon. Forecast: Bicol Region and the provinces of Samar, Southern Quezon including Polilio Island and Biliran Island will be stormy with rough to very rough seas. Metro Manila, Calabarzon and the provinces of Leyte, Southern Leyte, Extreme Northern Cebu including Bantayan and Camotes Island, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Aurora, Quirino and Isabela will have rains with gusty winds with moderate to rough seas. The rest of Visayas and Mindanao and the province of Palawan will experience cloudy skies with light to moderate rains. Thunderstorms are likely to occur over these areas. The rest of Luzon will have cloudy skies with light rains. Moderate to strong winds blowing from the northeast to northwest will prevail over the rest of the archipelago with moderate to rough seas.
