24 years later and Im still pissed off at the decision Paramount made to pull Friday the 13th: The Series off the air rather than go to war with the folks protesting it. Mancuso created one of the greatest television shows in network history and instead of the full, fleshed-out 8 or 9 season run the shows success warranted Im damned to this limbo of re-watching a mere 3. I gotta say that while I may have been bug-eyed and drooling at the graphic content of the show at 7 years old, looking back now at the shit they were getting away with showing on public tv during primetime (especially season 3) its no wonder people were flipping their lids over what their kids were watching. They were presenting situations and displaying a level of violence in the late 80s that would push past the limits of todays primetime (crap) programming and would do so with great ease. The best part? No one could accuse the cast and crew of doing so just for meaningless shock value. Everything was congruent in that every aspect was top-notch. The cast portrayed their respective deep and emotionally rich characters - and believably so - in an otherwise oh-so-unbelievable plot. Practically every episode was artistically and professionally written, directed, and executed... resulting in making it impossible to point to a single bad episode or set of episodes. For relative comparison, summon up a few episodes of the shit-stain that was Freddys Nightmares which debuted one year later from the extremely forgettable 80s shit section of your brains.
