25 September 2014 I HAVE PRAYED FOR YOU Memory Verse: But I have prayed for you … (Lk 22:32) Read: Luke 22:31-32 31: “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. 32: But I have prayed for you, Simon, that you faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.” Message The above Scriptures provide an account of a conversation between Jesus and Peter prior to the events of the cross. Jesus was informing Peter about what Satan had planned to do. This means that Jesus had a spiritual insight of what was about to happen. He knew that Peter was about to deny him three times (Lk 22:34). However, Jesus responded to this spiritual insight by praying for Peter. Perhaps you might be asking yourself, “Why didn’t Jesus prevent this from happening”? You might think, “Perhaps Jesus should have advised Peter to go home so that he does not face the questions that led to him denying Jesus”? Although all these were possibilities, they were not aligned to the perfect will of God. The will of God was for Peter to face the test from Satan and even Jesus could not prevent him from that. The only thing that Jesus could do at this stage was to pray for Peter. Jesus loved Peter and I am sure He was looking forward to see the prophecy He gave him being fulfilled (Mt 16:18). However, at this period of Peter’s testing, the only thing that Jesus could do was to pray for Peter. Action Point Often times as the prophet of God, I also receive spiritual insight about many things pertaining to people I love and care for, or about upcoming events of which God does not allow me to interfere, except by prayer. At times it is so hard to see people go through what I had known before, however, the will of God must prevail. Today you might be in a similar situation as that of Peter, were you are about to be tested or tempted by Satan, rest assured knowing that I, as the major prophet of God, have prayed for you. @ Prophet Shepherd Bushiri
