25 animals were brought to FCAC Monday; strays and owner - TopicsExpress

25 animals were brought to FCAC Monday; strays and owner surrenders. 25. In the summer months, daily intake can reach 50-60 animals in one day. So, before those 25 were brought in, 162 were already there. Stray hold, adoptions, cruelty cases and quarantines make up the nearly 200 animals at the shelter. Fed, cleaned and cared for daily by 3-7 shelter attendants. Building capacity is 215. However, in order to minimize disease and clean, cages must be open to move animals into while daily cleaning/feeding is taking place. Overwhelming is an understatement. What can be done? Ask yourself the following questions: 1. Do I live in Forsyth County and is my pet licensed? 2. Do my pets have a current rabies vaccine? 3. Are my pets spayed or neutered? 4. Do I have time to volunteer or donate items? 5. Am I ready & committed to adopt an animal? County license fees help fund FCAC programs and services that people need/expect. Rabies vaccines are required by North Carolina law. Unwanted & discarded litters are brought to the shelter daily. Right now, there is a sea of kittens and puppies. Volunteers are always needed in a variety of ways and monetary donations help fund our programs & help spay/neuter animals in our community. Being prepared to adopt an animal should be a lifetime commitment; not a day, week, month or year. We have a lot of amazing supporters and I thank them. ~Melissa~
