25 years ago I applied and was accepted to FSU, sight unseen. I arrived in Tallahassee at about 10pm on a cold December night. Coming down Tennessee Street from I-10. I stopped at what was the Sleep Inn (the sign had a bear sleepwalking). The next morning I woke up and had to walk to campus to the Student Housing office, which at the time was in Cawthon Hall. That day on Landis is etched into my memory. There were giant live oaks the like I had never seen, draped in spanish moss (also new to me). But also giant palm trees. There were guys throwing footballs and frisbees, and girls sunbathing in bikinis. And students studying - or napping on blankets. It was love at first sight. 25 years later I feel as strongly about this place as I did on that warm December day. Proud to be a Seminole! #FSUnited
