JIM HENSON SHOW, THE: GARBAGE {K.D. LANG} (TV) Summary One in this series of programs hosted by Jim Henson, which includes special presentations featuring an assortment of live-action Muppets and creatures. This program is an edited thirty-minute segment of an hour-long episode, originally titled The Jim Henson Hour. In this episode, Kermit is upset when MuppeTelevisions control room is suddenly full of talking bags of garbage, or previously-essential materials, as they prefer, worried that the audience will not like it. He quickly cuts to a Bootsie and Brad segment, in which a young girls dolls come to life and decide to pretend that they are married and try out a domestic routine, though are abruptly separated when the girls dog makes off with Bootsie. The garbage bags are unimpressed, however, and Kermit worries that they are revolting. Special guest star k.d. lang then performs her song (Waltz Me) Once Again Around The Dance Floor, and a couple of cowboys attempt to round up the garbage, though they are not successful and the trash bags convince lang to sing a song of their own creation entitled I Love Trash. Elsewhere, Kermit ventures into a forest and tells the tale of how birds, which were once all monochromatic, came to be painted in various hues when a cockatoo discovered a box of colors in the woods. The nightingale is late, however, and there are no colors left, but he receives a golden throat and has the most beautiful singing voice of all. Next, Billy the Bear and a raccoon friend deliver a news report as they observe natures most pesky and amusing creatures: humans. They witness a comical mating ritual, but are then chased away as one of the humans notices their presence and fetches his rifle. Digit, fed up with the garbage bags in the control room, attempts to get rid of them with a SingeMaster 3000, but then discovers that it is a vacuum. Finally, Kermit summons an expert, and he takes all of the garbage bags out on tour on a boat, and they sing On the Road Again as they sail away. Relieved, Kermit, Digit and Bean Bunny return to their usual work at MuppeTelevision…but are soon rejoined by the trash bags, who have been recycled. Commercials deleted.
