25 years ago yesterday the Berlin Wall fell beginning the total collapse of the Soviet Union and communism throughout Europe. To this day historians give the majority of the credit to Mikhail Gorbachev. NOT SO! Gorbachev reacted and responded to events set in place by President Reagan. He was not willingly moving toward ending communism and bringing down the wall but reacting in self defense to the policies of Reagan that forced his hand! As a reminder of who was the source and leader whose strength and unwavering conviction in the evil of communism, The Soviet Union and their quest to expand and imprison the world, here is the an excerpt from the speech delivered form The Brandenburg Gate by President Reagan demanding the Berlin Wall be torn down! This addition to the original speech was added by Reagan and it drove his staff and Congress crazy as they thought it would spear a military reaction by the Soviets. But President Reagan knew that standing firm and tough would eventually defeat the Soviets and he was right! It was Reagan who made it happen!
