250 detainees on Manus Island in Papua New Guinea have ended a hunger strike, though Immigration Minister Scott Morrison has told RN Breakfast that peaceful protests continue. This comes as new migration laws passed the senate on Friday, giving the government new powers to turn back asylum seeker boats and also re-introduce Temporary Protection Visas. Many of the Manus Island hunger strikers, some of whom had sewn their lips together, became ill after starting their protest.
