25th September, 2013 STATEMENT ON KENYAN CRISIS The Pan African Movement - Uganda National Chapter wishes to extend its sympathies and solidarity to the families and friends of victims at the Westgate mall, Nairobi terrorist saga. It is regretable in this day and age for the world to continue producing such extremist terrorist groups like Al Shabab. No cause can be justified by such actions. Terrorism has never been and can never be a means of any meaningful struggle and hence whichever losses Kenya and world in general has incurred during that fateful episode, it is only goes to awake the peace and security concerns of Africa. These are some of the loopholes in Africa’s strategic future and therefore all African and world peoples, regardless of the beliefs, must join the fight against global terrorism and for that matter Al Shabab with no hestation. The African Union and the United Nations should revise the mandate of AMISOM for more reinforcements and resources to end Al Shabab and Al Qaeda meances in Somalia and other regions. This must now be the world’s first priority and no efforts should be spared as nobody is aware of the next target. To the families of the deceased from Kenya, the region and other countries, we pray that you remain strong as the whole world continues to stand together with you during this challenging time. We therefore call upon all Pan-Africanists wherever there to offer all kinds of support to these families, the leadership and peoples of Kenya. Furthermore, we call upon the leadership of H.E President Uhuru Kenyatta to continue with the noble cause of pursuing Al Shabab and their ilk until peace is ensured in Somalia and the region. We call for the fast-tracking of the East African Community to enable the execution of joint operations in countering such threats. We thank all the advance rescue teams of Kenya and all other supportive countries and organisations for the noble services rendered. As Pan African Movement in Uganda, we promise our support till the logical conclusion of this matter. To the Leaderhip and people of Kenya, the region and international community, your battle flags should be kept high as victory is certainly on our side. One struggle, many fronts… Comrade Newton Balenzi FOR: Chairman, National Executive Committee Pan African Movement – Uganda National Chapter
