26) Mother People I was introduced to Frank Zappas music in 1968, when I was 11 years old, via an episode of The Monkees called The Monkees Blow Their Minds. In a mock interview, Mike Nesmith pretended to be Zappa and Zappa pretended to be Nesmith, then Nesmith (as Zappa) conducted Zappa (as Nesmith) as he demolished a car to an edit of this song. The song is from the fourth Zappa album, Were Only In It For The Money, which had been released a month before the episode aired. It features a beautiful yet ominous- sounding orchestral section toward the end that builds through the final chorus to the last piece on the record, a stunning bit of Musique concrète titled The Chrome Plated Megaphone Of Destiny.
