26 Oct 2014 - STORM WARNING POSTED FOR MONDAY 27 OCT - BC COAST Most of the BC south coast will be influenced by a weak ridge developing out of the Pacific today. Once a cool trough moves through showers will give way to a mix of cloud and clearing. Winds will ease considerably although the westerly flow through Juan de Fuca Strait will remain strong this morning though below warning levels. Hurricane Ana has officially been declared a Post-Tropical Storm and is tracking directly toward the BC north coast with a forecast landfall on Tuesday evening around Prince Rupert. Ana has become embedded in the southwest Pacific flow and is merging with a mid-latitude frontal system. While Ana loses tropical features and composition, wind velocities, water content and track advance will remain high through to landfall. This intense system will deliver Storm Force, possible Hurricane Force, winds and very heavy rainfall to the north and central BC coasts, northern Vancouver Island and west coast Vancouver Island starting Monday afternoon through Tuesday evening.
