26 years ago tonight I spent the evening with a backache that had gotten worse all day. I was six weeks from my due date, so never considered I was in labor:) Zachary J Parker HATES being late and he was definitely not late for his birthdate. By 4 AM my water had broken and by 1 PM the next day, he was here. Too early for his lungs, so he spent the next 18 days in the NICU and most of that time on a ventilator, but you would never know it today. He is brilliant and passionate, sings at the top of his lungs whenever he can, doesnt want anyone to decide his life choices, is a huge advocate for those with special needs, and has the special gift of leaving those he encounters feeling brighter. I am so thankful to have this force of nature as my son, I cannot imagine my life without him.
